We are honored to announce the incredible success of our first-ever friendship and fundraising dinner, “A Night for Our Children” (“አንድ እራት ለልጆቻችን”), held on May 16 2026 at Ghion Hotel. Organized through a a wonderful collaboration between the Alliance for Birth Defects (ABD), ReachAnother Foundation (RAF), and Anbessa Tour and Travel, this evening was truly one for the history books.
The Alliance for Birth Defects (ABD) was proud to organize and host the Parent Forum on Large-Scale Food Fortification Advocacy, in collaboration with GAIN (Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition).
This important forum brought together families affected by Spina Bifida, health professionals, and partners to amplify the call for mandatory folic acid food fortification—a proven strategy to prevent birth defects and improve public health.

Alliance for Birth Defects recently held a strategic board meeting where we identified our key priorities for 2025, reviewed a comprehensive three-year strategic plan, and approved critical partnership Memorandums of Understanding.
Our strong board structure will drive significant progress in our mission to prevent and treat birth defects, ensuring healthier futures for children in Ethiopia and beyond.
